Roberto Cavalli was born in Florence, Italy in 1940, to an artistic family.
Cavalli decided to enroll at the local Art Institute where he focused on textile print.
He presented his first collection at the age of thirty at the Salon of Prêt-à-Porter in Paris.
He then brought it to the catwalks of the Sala Bianca of Palazzo Pitti in Florence, in 1972 he opened his first boutique in ST.Tropez.
He also opened boutiques in Saint Barth and Venice.
Just Cavalli was launched in 1998 and produces menswear, womenswear, accessories, eyewear, watches, perfume and beachwear.
He also launched a childrens collection called Angels & Devils.
Roberto opened a cafe-store in Florence revamping it with his signature animal prints.
He also opened a cafe in Milan at Torre Branca and another boutique on Via Spiga.
Cavalli is also one of the many designers who designed a line for store H&M.
Many well known names have been the face of his campaigns such as Kate Moss, Christina Aguilera and Shakira.
In 2007 Roberto Cavalli's turnover was estimated to be around £490 million.
