Marc Jacobs

I've decided to write mini biographies on designers every now and again so I'm going to start off with Marc Jacobs.

Marc Jacobs was born in New York in 1963, at the age of 15 he was working for New York's trendy Charivari boutique where he was introduced to Perry Ellis.
He attended the High School of Art & Design which he graduated from in 1981.
He then entered Parsons School of Art & design where he won the Perry Ellis Thimble Award in 1984.
In 1987 Jacobs won the fashion industry's highest tribute, The Council of Fashion Designers of America Perry Ellis Award for New Talent.

In 1994 Marc launched his own label which was supported by models such as Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista. In 1997 he was appointed the role of creative director for Louis Vuitton in which he developed the company's first ready-to-wear line.
Since being at Louis Vuitton he has collaborated with Steven Sprouse, Julie Verhoeven and Richard Prince.
