Giorgio Armani was born in Piacenza, Italy in 1934 where he studied Medicine and Photography.
Armani worked as an assistant designer at fashion house Nino Cerruti from 1961-1970.
In 1974 he partnered with Sergio Geleotti in which they established a menswear label Armani, in 1975 they introduced womenswear.
He has numerous fashion lines with an annual turnover of 1.600 billion and is Italy's most successful designer and from 2007 was worth 2.1 billion.
He was the first designer to ban models with a body mass index (BMI) of under 18 from appearing in his catwalk shows after model Ana Carolina Reston died of anorexia nervosa.
Armani has also introduced the 'Giorgio Armani' phone with Samsung after Prada launched a phone with LG.
